In order to be a successful Site Reliability Engineer you will have…

  • Previous experience working as an SRE / at system administrator level
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and VMware with a good understanding of Linux Operating Systems
  • In depth knowledge of automation, PowerShell scripting and complex active directory trees
  • Good Knowledge of
    • Hardware (Dell, Cisco, Pure, Palo Alto)
    • Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL
    • Networking Cisco, Palo Alto, Big IP (FW, SDWAN, VLAN’s, Routing, Switching)
    • Security (Splunk, APM, SIEM)
    • Login/ Monitoring (Splunk, Elastic, Prometheus, PRTG, Netbox, IPAM, CMDB)
    • Mattermost, Atlassian

 

The role

As a Site Reliability Engineer you will work on projects relating to application software, operating systems and system management tools as well as maintaining new and existing device / client management systems. Part of the role will involve administering the Active Directory including all users, accounts and group policies and email administration using web based tools. You will help manage and monitor existing IT systems and infrastructure by managing tickets from the Corporate IT Service Desk queue to ensure the highest level of system and infrastructure availability. The client is always looking to improve processes so you will play an active role in planning and implementing system automation that improves efficiency and data security. Please note due to the nature of the role the successful candidate may be required to be on call for key production server / system issues as part of a rota that will be approximately 1 week every 2 months.
